Headings are also useful for SEO. Search engines love headings because they help to identify the relevant sections of your content. Greatest value is given to the main H1 heading, followed by H2 headings, then H3 headings and so on.

One of the things every blog posts needs is beautiful photos. Having a good quality main image on each blog post helps your posts to stand out when shared on social media and it also makes the page look nicely designed when someone lands on your site.

You can also include relevant photos within the copy to break up the text and support the topic you’re writing about.

It’s important to make sure you use good quality images to keep your blog looking professional. If you’re not great at photography you can try free stock photo websites or subscribe to a stock photography website aimed at bloggers such as Oh Tilly.

#5 Categories & tags

Categories and tags are a great way to organise content on your blog and help people to find more posts on the subjects they’re interested in. When people click on a category or tag they can be taken to similar posts which is also a good way to keep your bounce rate down.

Including both categories and tags also helps to boost your post’s SEO by telling search engines what your content is about.

#7 A conclusion

The ending of a blog post is just as important as the start and middle, it can be the difference between losing your readers once they have finished reading the post or encouraging them to go off and explore more of your website.
